RESIDENTIAL LIFE
Students participating in the Burnett Honors College
Summer Institute will be given the opportunity to experience college
life by living in Flagler Hall on UCF’s main campus. This resident hall is comprised of
two-room suites with a shared bathroom. Two students reside in
each room. Each room is equipped with linens, towels, a pillow,
beds, desks, dressers, and closet space. If you need additional
pillows, padding for your mattress, or additional linens, please remember
to pack them with you. Rooms have phone lines with free local
calling, but you will need to bring your own phone. In
each cluster of rooms there is a common area; if students would
like, they are free to bring video games, televisions (with cable
cord), radios, etc., but these items are brought at the owners’
risk. The Institute will NOT be responsible for any theft of
personal belongings. There is also a communal meeting room
with a large screen TV, laundry facilities, and a vending machine
room for all residential halls on campus.
Classrooms, the library, dining facilities, the
Student Union, the Recreation and Wellness Center, and the Burnett
Honors College are all within easy walking distance. All buildings
have air conditioning, including the residence halls. Additionally,
every cluster of rooms, or "pod," will have a Resident Assistant
in order to provide after-hours assistance to the students. The
Resident Assistant is responsible for enforcing curfews, handling
minor residential problems, serving as a point of contact for
students, and leading nightly activities. The students are assigned
to grade-alike, gender-alike groups that live in a dormitory cluster
under the supervision of their Resident Assistant. |
