COMPUTER SCIENCE AT UCF
The School of Computer Science and the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering merged in 2005 and have a new name.
It is now the School of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science. The school is home to UCF's Champion Programming
Team, which was ranked first in the South-East Region in 2000
01-02, 03-04, and second in 2006.
The department's faculty, which includes 5 IEEE
Fellows, 2 ACM Fellows, and 2 Fellows of the Institute of Combinatorics,
has received national and international awards and recognition
for excellence in research and education.
In 2001, the National Association of Graduate
and Professional Studies ranked the PhD program in Computer
Science at UCF nationally in the top 10. In 2006, UCF-EECS
Team Advanced to the "Programming Super Bowl." UCF
competed in the Southeast Regionals which consists of five
states. UCF and Georgia Tech solved 9 out of the 11 problems
posed in the five-hour contest and, based on their performance,
both schools have advanced to World Finals. |
